Ingredients
  

  • 3 hot dog buns
  • 3 sausages beef, chicken, or plant-based
  • 3 iceberg lettuce leaves
  • 6 –9 pickled cucumber slices
  • 3 tbsp ketchup
  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise tinted blue
  • 1 slice white cheddar cheese for stars

Method
 

  1. Cook the sausages to your liking—grill, pan-fry, or boil until done.
  2. Prepare the blue mayo: Tint mayonnaise with blue food coloring and spoon into a piping bag or squeeze bottle.
  3. Toast the buns lightly, if desired.
  4. Assemble the hot dogs:
  5. Line each bun with a lettuce leaf.
  6. Add 2–3 pickle slices.
  7. Place the sausage on top.
  8. Decorate:
  9. Drizzle ketchup across the sausage.
  10. Add a blue mayo stripe.
  11. Use a small star-shaped cutter to make cheddar cheese stars and place them atop the blue mayo.
  12. Serve immediately with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Toddler Tip: These are toddler-friendly, but you may want to go light on the mayo and cut the hot dogs into smaller pieces for safer eating.
  • Make it spicy: Add a touch of hot sauce to the mayo if serving for adults.
  • Dye-free version: Use natural food coloring or skip the blue for a simpler version.
